The 2013 Acura TL luxury performance sedan is among the first vehicles to receive the highest possible safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) under its more-stringent testing guidelines that now include the new small overlap frontal crash test. The IIHS small overlap frontal crash test is designed to simulate a collision between a vehicle and a fixed object, such as a tree or utility pole, where only 25 percent of the vehicles front structure is engaged by the opposing object.

In addition to the TL achieving TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, four additional Acura vehicles have received TOP SAFETY PICK ratings from the IIHS. The Acura ILX, TSX, MDX and RDX have all earned the top rating of GOOD in all four rating areas, including the more rigorous roof-strength test.

The new IIHS small overlap frontal crash test involves a collision between a fixed five-foot-tall rigid barrier and a vehicle traveling at 40 miles per hour. This frontal impact test focuses stress on a narrow section of the vehicle, outside of the side frame, which is typically the primary energy absorbing structure in frontal crashes, and requires a strong cabin structure. According to a 2009 study by the IIHS, small overlap crashes accounted for nearly 25 percent of frontal crashes resulting in a serious injury or fatality. The Acura TL was the first of two vehicles to achieve the highest rating of GOOD in the small overlap frontal crash test.

Acura's "Safety Through Innovation" initiative is based on the brand's commitment to make safety a top element in every new vehicle that Acura builds. As such, Acura is in the process of incorporating the next generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering II (ACE II) body structure to all fully redesigned models. This reinforced front frame structure provides further enhanced frontal crash energy management through a wider range of offset and oblique crashes. The result of such efforts should increase occupant protection while also increasing the likelihood of achieving a GOOD rating in the IIHS new frontal small overlap crash testing, with new Acura model introductions moving forward. The all-new 2014 Acura RLX flagship sedan coming to market in early 2013 will be the first to utilize the next-generation ACE II body structure.

All models in the current Acura line up utilize the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure. ACE is an exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes. The ACE design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment.

Standard safety equipment on all Acura models includes Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, ABS, dual-stage/multiple-threshold front airbags, front-side airbags, side curtain airbags for all outboard seating positions, front seatbelts with automatic tensioning system and load limiters, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Acura Automobiles: 2013 Acura TSX Press Kit

2013 TSXs are almost here, there is still time to grab an identical 12 at a crazy low price!

INTRODUCTION*

The TSX has long been one of Acura's most popular models. As an all-new, clean sheet design for 2009, the automotive media was immediately impressed and TSX sales were strong. Thanks to a great mix of styling, sporty performance, luxury appointments, good fuel efficiency and outstanding value, the TSX has remained the volume leader within its segment according to Global Insight.

Rather than resting on its laurels, for 2011 Acura debuted an all-new TSX variant the TSX Sport Wagon. With crisp styling and added utility, the TSX Sport Wagon was a smart alternative for those considering a compact SUV. Besides offering better fuel economy, the TSX Sport Wagon provides cargo area comparable to that of many CUVs. Plus, the TSX Sport Wagon offers an available power actuated tailgate, a multi-configurable rear cargo area (with numerous hidden storage areas) and a low lift-over height allowing for easy loading. In today's tough economic environment, the time is perfect to offer a smarter choice for buyers one without sacrifice or that is a compromise for the needs of today's savvy buyer.

In 2012, Acura introduced another TSX variant the TSX Special Edition. Designed to evoke the fun-to-drive 4-cylinder Acuras of the past, the TSX Special Edition added even more sportiness to the TSX lineup thanks to numerous exterior and interior upgrades for Acura's entry-level sedan.

The TSX Special Edition package consists of numerous upgrades to the exterior including a more aggressive front spoiler, a new rear bumper fascia, unique side sills and an exclusive "Special Edition" badge on the trunklid. In addition, the TSX's 17x7.5-inch, 5-spoke aluminum wheels feature a polished finish with dark grey background, unique to the Special Edition model. The TSX Special Edition package makes use of Acura's acclaimed K24 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and will be available with either the close-ratio 6-speed manual or Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmissions.

Inside, the TSX Special Edition makes use of sport-minded appointments including exclusive seating surfaces with perforated black Lux Suede inserts with red backing. Unique red stitching (used for the seats, steering wheel and the shift knob) combines with red lighting for the instrument cluster gauges, overhead lighting and footwell lighting. Adding more appeal to the driver's footwell are aluminum pedal covers with a race-inspired look. Rounding out the Special Edition's interior upgrades is the use of bright silver plating for the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters along with black headliner material (standard TSX have grey headliner material).

The 2013 TSX remains fun to drive thanks to two powerful engine choices; a spirited 2.4L inline four cylinder (available on TSX Sedan, Sport Wagon and Special Edition) and a torquey 3.5L V-6 (available on TSX Sedan). Both engines recently received numerous improvements to reduce internal operating friction which help improve fuel economy. As a result, the friction reduction measures are a significant element to improve fuel economy as (for example) there are improvements in city, highway and combined fuel economy for both the 2.4L I-4 and the 3.5L V-6 versus the earlier designs of the TSX engines.

The all-new 2013 Acura ILX has received the highest possible safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS award recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting vehicle occupants involved in front, side and rear crashes, plus rollover performance based on ratings in the Institute's tests.

The all-new 2013 ILX, along with the 2013 RDX and 2012 TL, MDX, and TSX sedan and Sport Wagon, have all earned IIHS 2012 TOP SAFETY PICK ratings and the highest possible score of GOOD in all four Institute tests, including the rigorous roof-strength test.

Further, standard safety equipment on all Acura models includes Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, anti-lock brakes, dual-stage/multiple-threshold front airbags, front-side airbags with passenger side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), side curtain airbags for all outboard seating positions, front seatbelts with automatic tensioning system and load limiters, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Acura's belief in "Safety Through Innovation" is the foundation for the brand's commitment to leadership in safety and excellent safety is a paramount element in every new vehicle that Acura builds. Acuras goal is for all models to provide a high level of safety regardless of size or the price of the vehicle.

Thank you for the great review!  We are always so proud of Jordan!

Acura of Pembroke Pines service has been flawless. From the time I drive up and I am greeted by the attendant, to Jordan the service advisor, to the cashier, the cleaningless of the customer waiting area, it has all been perfect experience. If only my Ford dealer was half as customer oriented. Unfortunately, Acura doesn't make Mustangs.
