Service FAQs
Service FAQs Answered by Our Miami Area Acura Dealership
Our service center gets lots of questions, and our aim is to help drivers so they can keep their vehicles on the road. We've compiled an FAQ for service so you know the basics and can make smart decisions regarding your vehicle maintenance.
How often should I get an oil change?
You should change your oil every 6,000 miles on average. At our dealership, we can set a service reminder for you, and when you visit us you can be assured your Acura will get the right oil designed specifically for your model. Having oil changes complete every 6,000 miles allows for the engine to stay clean, and the vehicle to run efficiently. Neglecting to do so can cause a whole host of other issues, so it's best to stay on schedule.
How often should I check my vehicle's fluid levels?
Giving your fluids a quick check monthly is a good idea, so you can see if any are reaching low levels. Usually, when that happens, you'll get a vehicle warning light such as one that lets you know if your wiper fluids are low. We can top off any needed fluids, especially more complex ones like brake and transmission fluid. For things like windshield washer fluid, many people can do this themselves as well.
How often should I change my air filter?
It's a good idea to get your cabin air filters changed once a year or every 12,000 to 15,000 miles to keep the air quality clean inside your vehicle.
When should I replace my brake pads?
Getting your brake pads and your rotors replaced every 40,000 to 50,000 miles is a general rule, but if you're hearing any brake noises, noticing a loss in stopping power, or feel there's a brake issue, be sure to bring your vehicle in right away.

When should I replace my car battery?
Car batteries usually can last up to five years if they're in good condition. Signs you need your battery replaced are when it struggles to turn over the ignition on a regular basis, isn't holding a charge, or won't start often and it needs regular jump starts. We can replace your Acura battery with top, long-lasting brands.
Do I really need winter tires?
Here in the Miami and Plantation areas, they're not necessary. For anyone who lives where there's lots of snow and ice, it's a good idea. We can showcase many tires, including all-season tires for you at the dealership.
How much air pressure should I put into my tires?
You should put in the air pressure for your Acura, or any other vehicle that's stated in your owner's guide. Going too high or low can result in tire damage.
What happens if I ignore my low tire pressure warning light?
You shouldn't ignore your tire pressure warning light. Doing so can result in losing air in your tire and increasing potential for a blowout, or it might be an indicator you have a flat tire. Get to a tire filling station or service center as soon as possible.
What's the point of a tire rotation?
Tire rotations keep your tire tread balanced. This means when they are rotated it evenly distributes things so they last longer and you get the most value out of them. Not doing so can cause tires to deteriorate quicker, and leads to less grip and stopping power.
Why does my vehicle need a coolant flush?
Coolant flushes make sure that your engine is able to stay cool and not overheat. Over time, you'll need to do coolant flushes to add new coolant to keep things level and your vehicle out on the road.
What should I do when my Check Engine Light comes on?
You should get an appointment with a service center like ours right away. You'll want this inspected as soon as possible so you know what the issue is and it can be a quick fix. Neglecting it could lead to serious and costly repairs.
